Think I have it correct... But scale rot?
Hello people, as some of you may know I have had my Ball for about 2 months now. He is yet to eat a meal, but as he has shed during this time and it is breeding season I am not too concerned... However, I just though I would post this so you guys can check out my set up to see if the temps are what they should be. Peter seems to spend a lot of time outside of his hides, is this normal? He likes to sit on the log like he is in the photo. His weight has gone from 1061g to 1013g in 26 days. Is that normal?

Also, here are the scales in question...

It just looks like the substrate has gotten in between the scales. He felt quite rough. Short soak maybe?

Looks good. I try to keep my cool side at 80 degree. I had to use a space heater to do so. The pic just looks like substrate. Try paper towels, they are cheap and easy to clean...

Thanks for the response :) He seems to enjoy the cold side, so I just assume that he likes it how it is. I thought that the pic was just substrate. Just wanted to make sure :)
What about the weight loss? Would you be concerned about 48g's in 26 days?

I wouldn't be. For not eating a whole month, that weight loss is ok. My normal girl lost 70g in 48 days going from 970ish to 901.
Btw, to answer your original question, I don't think that's scale rot. Just looks coco husk substrate.

Good :) I was getting concerned over his weight loss. I am warming up a meal for him as we speak!
Thanks, I thought it was just substrate, I have not seen scale rot so I don't know what to suspect.

No worries. Just keep a record of how long he hasn't eaten and just keep offering. Maybe try to feed later in the evening or even see if the meal you're giving him is too small or too big.
Hope he eats for you. I'm feeding mine tonight so I'm hoping for the best!

I have a spreadsheet with his weight and a few different things on there, I think it was you who suggested it to me :)
Well, good luck to the both of us :gj:

Glad its working out.
I'm not sure if you're aware, but there's also iherp.com its a website dedicated to tracking as well. The only bad thing is they don't have an app.

Thanks, I will check it out!
Just tried to feed him, he didn't strike... Practically ran away from it! Might try offering smaller prey. Left the rat in, so will see what I am greeted by in the morning!
