    My Female is in Shed!
    Hey all,

This is my fist go at this. I got these pythons in 2010.
I have been lowering temps since early November.
This pastel female has been visiting my male pastel every week for a few days at a time since then.
They were mating regularly at the start, didn't see locking through December, and they resumed in January.
I have been feeling for follicles but I'm just not getting the idea..
She ate a rat last week!

So today I open the lid and see she is in shed, and I was a bit confused.
    What does this mean?
Could it be a post ovulation shed?
Or do her body's plans not include laying eggs this year?

    Would appreciate the help!
    Samuel

It's my first year breeding. But would have to say based on my experience, if she's eating, she's not gravid.

I've heard that typically they will lock until ovulation. So if she was locking in January she probability hadn't ovulated, I'd let her shed out n then pair them. If after a few attempts and no lock then I'd say she possibly ovy'd and this could be your post ovy shed. But truthfully I think all that stuff is hit or miss. My best suggestion is to pair her til she refuses to lock, feed til she stops eating n just wait to see some eggs. Don't stress, if she isn't going to lay then there's nothing you can do anyways.

They can have regular shed cycles while they are breeding. I have a female who sheds every 4-5 weeks and she still hasn't ovulated. Just keep pairing and if she's going to give you eggs, she will eventually.
