Who Goes Off Feed The Most?
Just a curiosity question. In your collection, who goes off feed the most often or most consistently, year in and year out? Is it your females, or your males?
Re: Who Goes Off Feed The Most?
Varies based on the snake for me. My fire male never stopped eating even when pairing. My normal male whose a pet hasn't been bred and he hasn't eaten in months haha.
For females most of mine were pretty consistent up to 800-1000g. Then some stopped and some kept going. Breeding sized female ate for me up until she was ready to be paired. Then once I got her pairing she took off again eating. Stopped after she was knocked up. Then started again within a couple weeks of laying.

Mine varies by snake as well. My female bee, had been an absolute machine for 2 years, and was sitting at 2300g. Then shortly after I started pairing, she stopped. Hasn't eaten since October, and is in pre lay shed now. Both of the males I had been pairing her with, continued to eat until about a month ago. Now they have stopped. Then there's my pet only, older male, who we got as a "proven breeder", has never bred a day in his life here, nor will he, and he religiously goes off food from October to March. My other two females are just spotty in general. Doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason.

My males seem to be more weight conscious on the whole.

Not including hatchlings, I have two females that will not eat during shed, a male that will probably eat anything put in front of him, and another male who will only eat medium mice every three weeks even though he's 900g but im not worried about it since he's maintaining weight and doesnt look unhealthy. And my biggest normal girl who has only ever turned down one meal in over 4 years.I have another male and female im waiting for it to warm up to get here, but am told they have been eating very well.
