crickets in frog tank

Ok so maybe this is a stupid question but why cant I just keep like 50 crickets right in my pac man frog tank? Everything I see online says put only as many crickets in as he can eat in one sitting or however many you plan to feed at a time. Is the danger pollution or that maybe the crickets will bite or something else? Or is there no danger. It would be so much easier and take the guess work out of how much to feed if you could just let them graze as they see fit.

Crickets usually bite when not eaten, I know they did with my bearded dragon. And also when they die they are going to rot in the tank and if the frog constantly sees prey he might get stressed

Them biting and stinky death are two but my bigger question is why are you feeding your pacman crickets?
I know a lot of pet stores feed crickets to everything but then again we know how reputable their information is.
Night crawlers and red wiggler worms are a great choice, we get ours from Academy Sports.

So much of what I read online says they are insectivores in general and mention feeding them crickets. But I'm glad you mention worms, red wigglers in particular. In raising garter snake I have often read that red wigglers are toxic to them. Some sources even suggest that the toxicity can be similar for other animals as well. Ours were raised on night crawlers so they wouldnt touch a wiggler. Dont know why but they love bug fat crawlers. Every couple months they get a fuzzy mouse as a treat.

I will try crawlers but still curious about wigglers...easy to raise on scraps

I raised red wigglers for a while however I couldn't get many of my critters to take them. I read somewhere that they have a 'bitter' flavor (though I don't know how anyone would know that...:O)
