    Have you ever contracted conjunctivitis from your rat?
    I just wanted to see if anyone here has had this happen. I handle one of my breeding females often, and she likes to crawl on my shoulder. Occasionally she sneezes and before I can react I feel some fluid land in my eye. I woke up this morning with a red eye, and this is the second time it has happened. I think it is likely that the rat is the cause. Anyone else had an experience like this?

    There are a number of diseases/infections that can be transmitted between rats and humans. If she is sneezing bacteria right into your eye then yes, some redness and inflammation is likely. You may want to consider keeping her face directed away from yours.
