Holding my BP before feeding

I'm about to feed our BP and we know we can't handle Slithers for a couple days but my daughter wants to get one more holding in before .. Is that an issue?

Shouldn't be an issue as long as your hands don't smell like food. Mistakes have been made :D. Make sure you don't handle your BP after feeding for about 48hrs.

Right on.. I actually knew that I just didn't know if it would make a condition of handling and feeding if she held it before the meal..;-)

Can I clean my cage before feeding? Only been about 6 days but I wanna freshen up the cypress mulch for humidity reasons..

Yeah a lot of owners handle their BP prior to feeding. I personally remove my balls from their cages and feed them in separate tubs. Mainly because I don't want the substrate to get all over the mice.

Cleaning the cage shouldn't make a difference either. The only thing you may notice is that your BP may be more aggressive than normal because he/she is hungry or expecting to be fed.

I would refrain from holding your snake on feeding day especially if you have a routine of feeding the same day each week.

On feeding day I do not mess with any animal, I won't even touch their water ball. ;)
