Want to buy a light tent kit

Anyone have any recommendations?
I saw this on ebay, not sure if this will be good for shooting bp photos.

I wouldn't buy that one. Those light tent kits don't have enough light, plus the one you are looking at is too small. My friend is letting me borrow his set up, which is the 30" x 30" x 30" one with (3) 100 watt incandescent lights at 5200 K (1 for the top, and 1 for each side), and I'm using a Rebel XT by hand (with the kit 18-55 mm lens, way to slow). Even with this set up I'm not getting enough light. I've ordered a tripod and a remote to see if I can improve my results, but the weather has delayed the delivery and they might not get here until after the weekend so I won't be able to test the results until next weekend. This will give me a lot more light and has the diffuser in each one already, so I won't need a light tent. I'll then use some small PVC to create a frame to hang some fabric over as a backdrop and use my tripod and remote to take pictures. This same set up will work for video also. I know the setup that I've described is more expensive, but I think you'll be much happier with the results. If you do buy a light tent, at least get a 30" one and plan on buying more/bigger lights for it. You could use PVC to build a frame around your light tent and use clamp light fixtures (like the ones that hold heat lights for aquarium set ups) but you will still need to get quality bulbs. Sun light is usually considered to be 5200 K and if you use a different temperature light bulb you will need to adjust the white balance and/or use a computer program (Photoshop or something else) to correct the colors in your photo to what you see with your eye.

I will try to take pictures of my current set up and post some pictures taken with it and then do the same once my tripod and remote get here and then start a thread on that.

I followed the sticky at the top of this forum. Works well for me. There's a bit of color mismatch in the background because since she was on top of the branch we got where the paper meets the cloth. What I like most about this is I can take the tent apart easily and store it under my bed. It's plenty big for the snakes too.

I finally got a picture of the setup that I am currently using. My friend's light box is 20 inches cubed and I am using 3 lights, 1 on each side and 1 on top. Here it is:

The 20 inch cube will work for taking a picture of a single snake from hatchling up to adult. However, it will be too small for 2 adults if you want to do a comparison shot at all. Here is a picture with a 2,400 gram female Pastel:

As you can see, she takes up just about the whole space. That's the reason I plan to go to the light's I mentioned in my earlier post (I also think those lights will be good for video too, since the size won't be a limitation).

No matter what you choose to do, I would recommend getting a WhiBal card. If you look at this post, you can see the difference it can make and it is only $20.
