Hey guy's, I have a 5 month old female BP, in great health, she had her vet check up last week. The vet asked what I was feeding her and I told him p/k adult mice....he seemed surprised. So I asked him when I should start with rats and he told me to hold off for about 4 more months. I was just wondering at what age all of you started your BPs onto rats??

What age to start rat feeding??
4 more months is a bit long to wait, the general concensus(sp?) around here is 6-7 months old for Female bps depending on how big they are

As long as she is big enough to take rats .. go for it. There is no set or specific age for your bp to be taking rats, its all about if they are big enough to take them. As long as she is girthy enough to take the next sized rat up from and adult mouse .. she is ready. It could be 5 months, it could be 1.5 years depending on how often your bp eats and his/her particular growth cycle.

I myself would love to feed my BP every 5 days for a month or 2, cause she is still so young and growing. But that all depends on how much of an appetite she has, I'll find out next week when I feed her :p
