    Substrate
    I currently have aspen substrate.
Ive had it down for about2 weeks
My question is how often should I change it to make sure my snake is clean.
I did remove poop from the tank two weeks ago.
It was on an artificial moss pad I had in one of her hides so I don't think the substrate is soiled.
Just curious on a healthy time to change it.

I spot clean as needed and do a complete change out every 1-2 weeks or so (sometimes sooner for my colubrids since they go more often than the boids)

    alright thank you.
Do you think I should change it even though she hasn't wasted it yet?

That's quite often! Good on you :)

If you spot clean, OP, the vive stays much cleaner for much longer. I think, depending on how much aspen you have down, you can change about once per month. If you have a very thin layer then more often may be needed. I have about an inch, and change it once a month plus spot cleanings every week. Although I'll admit, it's more difficult with a PVC cage than a glass tank that had a clear bottom!
You should start to notice when it needs a changing. If things start smelling funny, that's a sign. ;)
