who uses

Cypress mulch ?? Where do u get it from ?? Right now due to winter its like no 1 carries it ... I found some spot online that charges 47.99 for a cubic foot of "pure " cypress mulch ... is that a good price ??

Also I heard lows sells it but its mixed with other stuff not pure and no 1 knows what other woods r in there ... so some advice from those that use it .. where u getting it from ? Is it pure? If its mixed how long have u been using it and r ur animals fine with it

1 cubic yard is 27 cubic feet. That is a lot of mulch for $50.

What you want is Grade A Cypress Mulch. Grade A cypress is composed of only cypress bark. Don't use mixed mulch as it often contains cedar which is toxic to snakes.

Yea I know .. but where do I buy that .. I heard lows and home depot they sell it blended with other woods like cedar .. that place they dont ship so it dont matter ... I found on reptile basics as of now Im thinking thats my best bet

I like it :) it holds humidity well (but doesn't let heat escape as easily into the vive, because it is damp. But you can always dry it out).
I get mine from a reputable reptile shop. It is a bit pricey, but cheaper than "snake" aspen (can't compare to small animal aspen, though). You shouldn't have to worry about bringing home mites in it either, like you might with drier woods kept near other reptiles at stores.

I buy the Forest Floor brand, says it's 100% cyprus mulch. An 8 qt bag runs about $8 at the store (could be even cheaper if you find it online or in bulk).

Be careful when you look for woods at big box stores not designated for pet use. Other woods are often mixed in; there was a thread recently where someone asked what was in the (I believe) cyprus mulch at a Home Depot or Lowes or something, and the manager said it was only about 20% cyprus mulch with some pine and "whatever we cut that day" to make up the rest...

I seen some stuff in petco the others day new stuff by zoo med called forest floor .. but I couldnt find what was in it .. I think im just gonna order from reptile basics its a 52q bag for I think 27 I think thats including shipping

The problem with buying mulch this time of year that that most places are out of it because it's winter. I used to use cypress all the time, it's great stuff especially in the winter when humidity is low because it holds water well. But it really is nearly impossible to find the good stuff this time of year. I used to lay in a supply in the summer when I could get a lot of it for cheap and then just store it in the garage for when I needed it. These days I mainly use newspaper. The floor of the herp room is a lot cleaner, but the tubs dry out pretty quick and I need to spray them down.

My wife ordered something for one of her gardens that I used once, it's called Mulch Brick and is chopped coconut coir. Seemed to work really well. It's not the fine milled stuff but comes in larger chunks. It's expensive but it expands and a bag can fill quite a few tubs.

Yea i use newspaper to and aspen on some just not holding humidity at all n i work 2 jobs so im never home to worry about spraying down tubs 2-3 times a day so im gonna try this out ..

Thank you for that link, buy 2 and the price drops. I don't know if I'd do the whole enclosure with it, but it would last a long time if just used in a humid hide.
