New Python Regius
It's day three, and my B.P. finally came out of hiding and explored his new terrarium. he/she was only out for about 10 minutes before retreating to his half-log hiding place, where he has spent the last few days. I am excited that my B.P. is starting to open up, and i would like to hold him/her soon. But on day one, when the initial transfer process took place, my B.P. seemed really timid, and scared. should i wait longer before i attempt to hold him/her or should i go for it if i see it exploring again. i don't want to make any bad moves, and would like to establish a good relationship between us, quickly and most importantly safely for the both of us. Any advice from you pro's out there is well appreciated. thanks in advance

I suggest letting the snake settle in for a week minimum before any handling takes place. A week is a good time for it to adjust and to have a better chance for it to start feeding for you.

If he was acting scared or timid right away, I would let him sit a few days. Some are good being handled immediately, but some need time. In the end, though, you can try picking him up and see how he reacts. Picking him up once is not going to scar him for life and he may be okay being handled now. Just pay attention to him and see how he acts and react accordingly (ie put him back if he acts really stressed).
In my opinion, ditch the half log and get a true hide. Something that's fully enclosed that he can crawl into and feel secure. Something like this concept: http://www.reptilebasics.com/hide-boxes
You don't need those specifically, but something similar in concept. 1 entrance in, fully enclosed, he can hide in there and not feel exposed. You can buy hides or make them out of tons of different things. That should help with his security factor.

A lot also suggest waiting 3 consecutive and successful meals (so about 2-3 weeks), especially for a young one. This ensures that they are well established before adding in the stresses of handling.
I don't think I could wait that long with mine, but if you can, it's one idea :)
