Piebald breeding investment

Hi everyone.
I just wanted to get some opinions from others. I really want to breed my Male piebald poss het albino as he is at 900+ grams and have the option to get a female pied at 1200grams for £900. It will be a struggle to get the £900 but is possible. Im just unsure on what my return would be. I see on the genetic wizard that pieds bred together priduce all piebald hatchlings. But ive heard from others that this is not always the case?
I just thought maybe some of you on here would be able to help me make my mind up on if i should snap this offer up not and be skint for about 6weeks or should i wait and see what comes up in a few months?!

Yes, if both animals are visual then the entire clutch should be too.
Your return will depend on a lot of things so that's up for question.........................

For me personally, 1200g is a bit low as far as breeding weight goes for a female, so keep in mind you'll want to raise her up another couple hundred grams before you pair. Obviously, as long as she eats well, this could be quickly accomplished in quarantine, and you can be ready for springtime locks, if all goes well.

Pieds aren't really on my radar, but if you like the look of her and want to try your hand at pieds, I say go for it! Keep in mind though, what she looks like doesn't matter as far as outcome goes, in the high-white vs. low white game. 10% whites can throw 90% whites and vice versa, the pattern of the mother will have no influence on the babies.

£900 is a good deal for a 1200g female pied! But u will get a more viable clutch if i w8 till she is 1500-1600gs and u will get more eggs too and u will make ur money back with the 1st clutch

This is true only if you can sell them, you have to ask yourself how good are other breeders moving babies in your area.

If she is a visual pied, that close to breeding size, I would get her if it's at all possible.

For now, your male will be able to produce all pieds with her, although since he's only a possible het albino I wouldn't throw that into the mix, most people won't be interested in such a slight chance of a het. However, starting out with visual pieds will get your foot in the door, and allow you to purchase morphs het pied in the future. Since you own both a male and female pied, you can pick and choose which deals are best for you at the time.

Maybe you'll find a hot mojave het pied male, put him to your female for mojave pieds. Or perhaps you stumble on a pastel het pied female for next to nothing, bring her home, put your male to her and make pastel pieds. See the possibilities? Then down the road a ways, you can pick up a double het for albino and pied female, or dream of dreams an albino het pied female, and try to prove out your male.

Patience is key when breeding pieds, believe me I know I'm there myself. And don't miss out on a chance at a near breedable female if you can help it. I still only have het pieds at breeding size.

My experience is that 1,200 gram females breed just fine and quickly recover and add weight for the following year...anyway, your return would be fine. Go for it and then get a few double het albino pied...:gj:

Just remember, if it's a struggle to get the money to pay for her, will it be a struggle to wait the amount of time it will take to: pack weight on her, breed, lay, hatch, and sell? It'll probably be nearly a year before you are able to make that money back

If the money is a struggle, depending on the credibility of the poss het albino, I'd get an albino breedable female. It will cost less than the pied, and best case scenario you end up with a Pied 100% het albino and Albino's 100% het pied. Then you are well on your way to the dbl recessive. Worst case, you get double hets which isn't so bad either. This of course if you bought your pied with intentions of making an albino pied.

If it's a struggle to come up with the money, I'd let it go. Save up some money first. You buy her and then suddenly your male has an RI and needs vet attention, you've spent all your money already.

Prices are going nowhere but down, anyways. Waiting, when possible, will do nothing but increase your possiblities for purchases.
