    Just ordered my first rack!
So, four months into this new hobby of mine, I gave in and bought an Iris CB70 rack from Reptile Basics. Ordered it last night and got the shipping confirmation this morning--WOW! I can't wait to get it up and running.

I've enjoyed having Nigel in his big tank, but I think he'll like this much better, and the maintenance will certainly be easier. I also ordered the VE 200D thermostat--if I'm going to do this, I want to do it right. It should be all ready to go by the time my new BP gets here (if this weather doesn't warm up soon, that's going to be a while until he can be shipped).

I'd appreciate any tips you all have for making this new setup perfect for my guys. Now I feel like a "real" reptile owner!

The rack came today and it's great. I had it set up where I wanted it and hooked up to the thermostat and thermometer/hygrometer in about 20 minutes--and I am NOT electronically gifted. It looks so much nicer and more organized than what we currently use.

I'm watching the temps and humidity for a while before I move Nigel in there, but so far, so good.

You're gonna' love that rack. The one thing I did when I got my first RBI rack was to buy and drill vent holes in a couple extra tubs. You can find them locally, or buy them online. That way if I saw a dirty tub in the morning before heading to work, I could do a quick change out, and leave the dirty tub in the garage until I got back at the end of the day. That way, none of my snakes had to sit in a dirty tub all day.

Good idea! I'll get some extras ordered.

Where I am right now (Northwest Texas), it's generally super-dry. The humidity is perfect without any holes drilled at all, but that's subject to change!

By the way--I'm a native Gainesvillean myself! Nice to see another Gator on the boards. :D

Go Gators! I know how it is in Texas. I've been stationed in both Abilene and San Angelo. Pretty much dryer than a popcorn's fart out that way

If you ever get back to Hogtowne, shoot me a PM.

Plan on visiting family in a couple weeks, actually--I'll be in touch. Gainesville's a great place for reptile lovers!

So true! Amir Soleymani just opened a new joint on 34th, about 2 miles south of his old place. The new digs are very nice.
