    Spider not gaining weight
So my spider ball python is a little over a year and he only eats large mice frozen thawed. I have tried live rat pups and weaned but nope he is to shy. But he only weights 285 grams and my other albino is a year old female and eats rats and is 400 grams. Are spiders slower growers and don't bulk out much. I think he wants a rat since he is very interested in the live one I have for my albino. But he is not gaining the right weight . He is almost 2 years.

    1. How often are you feeding? Both snakes sound underweight for their ages. Most slow growers are either slow growers, picky eaters, or not being fed enough. There is no discrepancy between morphs in terms of how fast they grow, it is on and individual basis whether the snake will be a slow grower or not.

    2. How old are they? You list what looks like 3 different ages for 2 snakes.

    3. What are your setups like? Temps, humidity, substrate, etc.

My spider ball is a picky eater he willl not eat 2 large mice only once and I try to feed him once every Tuesday but he won't do that. He is almost 2 years old. And I can't get him to eat rats. His humidity is at 60 percent his temps cool side 70's hot side in the 80's. But.he is always active. Ill up.his feeding more often but he is not bulking out. My albino o got from a show her issue was the breeder.told us she ate like mice found out she ate rats so she was not eating for some time but now I found a shop that always has small baby rats In stock so she will gain weight fast. My spider is my problem. I just not getting the weight.

Don't forget some BPs are just small snakes. I have a 4 yr old girl that weighs between 750 to 850. She is fat and healthy just on a smaller size than most girls her age. I feed 1x a week medium rat. I keep records of how much she weighs before feeding her and the most she has ever been after eating a large rat was 920 grams. She's also 4 1/2ft. Keep trying with your little guy. After getting rid of the mites I would tr u every 4 to5 days o. A rat pup. He will eat. It may take a little but he will eat. Good luck.
