I Need a Little Help Deciding...
As you know, income tax time is rolling around...and now its time to think of what add to my collection. But I need a little help because I can only budget for one or the other (unless you have other ideas).

Pair #1: 2011 Silver Streak male/ 2012 Silver Streak female
    -Pros:
    Almost breeding size
    Will not produce normals
One in four shot in producing Super Pewters (goal)
Both would be useful for future projects

    -Cons: ??

Pair #2: 2013 Black Pastel YB male and 2013 Pastel Specter female

    -Pros:
Cheapest option to produce Black Pewter Super stripe (1 in 16 odds)
Female Pastel Specter will be a useful breeder
Only $50 more than Pair #1

    -Cons:
Will take 1.5 to 2 years to reach breeding size
1 in 16 odds of producing goal
Will produce normals and specters in same clutch, which might give problems identifying the Specters.

Which should I choose? Granted they might get sold before I have the cash... but I hope my refund won't take long to come in. If somebody has other suggestions, I'm all ears. I love clown stuff, but I'm doing a breeding loan to produce lesser het clowns... I love pieds, but I would want a sub adult/breeder size female at least. I would love a GHI, but can't see myself paying that much for one hatchling. I don't care for enchis or pinstripe stuff. I love crazy patterns and dark/contrasting/ silver stuff. I adore the yb & black pastel/cinny complexes. I also wonder about starting a Desert project (but then I would have to get enchi Because they go so well together!). Anyways... sorry for my long, indecisive post lol

If you can not think of any cons to one of the pairs it should really be an easy decision to make

I'm assuming you are being loaned a clown to breed your female lesser. I would get a 2011/2012 female clown and next year a pastel(or other gene) clown male. This way you would have lesser het clown male x clown in 2 years and pastel clown x lesser het clown in 3.

You assume correctly. That is a nice idea, but I want to wait for the clutch to be laid & hatched before I add anything to the project because I don't want to count my chicks before they hatch. Could have bad odds. Or poor gender ratio. I could end up buying the wrong gender.

between the two options you laid out I would choose the first pair. For the second pair, I would not buy them as a pair now. If they female is a 2013 there is no need to get the male for at least a year. In that time you might change your mind and even if you don't the price on the male you want will probably go down.

Yeah, you're right. I just put it as an option because it was the cheapest way to produce a black pewter super stripe. I would rather do a black pewter yb x super stripe... but that is expensive. Maybe I could pick out one to be female to raise up. The only black pewter yb I could find was around 1600.... perhaps I could pick up the silver streak pair and a yb breeder size female and do payments on a super stripe female. Breed the silver streak male to the yellow belly while waiting on the silver steak female to come of age/size and produce my own black pewter yb male (hopefully). Price check on breeder size yb female?!

go with no 1 . super pewters are very cool. I have a super black pewter. clown stuff is nice and when you produces hatchlings, it's pretty easy to sell.

here's a pic of my super black pewter.

Thank you guys! I have the silver streak pair on hold and am currently searching for a breeder sized yb female. Then I'll be looking for a super stripe female in the near future. Can't wait!
