    Regurgitation or vomit?? Help please!:(
Well, I fed my snake 2 fuzzy mice on Saturday, the 18th, so 2 weeks from tomorrow. He has spent the entire past 2 weeks in his warm hide. I'm unsure of his activity at night during these past 2 weeks. I haven't handled him at all except for today because I thought he was going into shed. I held him today for a few minutes but only to look him over because he has falling a few inches off of a vine. He seemed fine and was active while I was holding him. Any who, I was laying in bed and heard an awful noise coming from the tank, I shined a flash light in there and saw my snakes body moving. I decided to give him some privacy while he was doing what ever it was. I was laying here watching my tank and out he comes, slithering around his tank. So I went and looked into his hide and there was this white gooey stuff with some greenish brown and gray colors mixed in sitting there, some was on the glass. He seems fine and as we speak he is climbing on the vine. Did he throw up or regurgitate?? What should I do?? Warm side stays around 83-85 during the day with a basking spot of 88-90 and during night it stays around 75-80. Humidity sits around 55-63%. Please help!

Sounds like a nice fart and a poop to me. Two weeks would have been plenty of time to digest, so I think you're fine. ;) If you want to post a photo of it for verification, go ahead, but you are absolutely not the first person to be startled by a snake fart, and certainly not the last. Heh.

If it was a regurgitation there would be an absolutely awful smell to it! Two weeks is a long time for a regurg to occur. I would bet it is just a messy poop.

Haha well thank you so much!! I was worried about it being in his hide so I got my snake hook and moved It out, so if I can get a picture tomorrow I will post it! I find that quite relieving that it isn't something serious! On a funny note, I never would've thought a snake fart would've scared me! :D and a bonus, I also found his shed in that hide, one nice long piece! I'm measuring it tomorrow! Thanks again!! :D

They always seem to let it rip in the middle of the night, just to make you think that the girl from The Grudge is coming after you...

Oh, if he shed too, then it was almost certainly a poo! They always do those two things at the same time, seems like... must just be the time to let everything loose and start new, as it were.

Yeah, no kidding! I'm a fan of scary movies and every time I hear a weird noise, they all play back in my head lol!

    This right here!

I've read that lots of times and thought, "How bad can it be? If you've ever stood by a garbage dumpster in Kansas in July or cleaned up toddler barf after a big lunch, certainly you can handle a stupid half-digested rat. I mean, what's worse than human barf smell?"

I had my first one the other day. It smells like....something died and then sat in the belly of something else for (six days in my case) on top of a 90* heating pad.

I'm not the most experienced person here by a long shot, but I can tell you this - if it ever happens, you will know it happened. Mark my words, you will know.

Regurge is fairly quick and involves no digestion and really no smell.

A vomit takes place after a much longer period of time and usually after digestion occurs and can stink.

People use the two terms interchangeably and don't really care. However mistake a cinnamon pastel with a black pastel and things get heavy around here. You've been warned.

As to what happened to your snake - it was neither. He most likely dropped a deuce on you.
