I hate winter.....
still have a few payments to make on this girl, but the breeder sent me an updated pic of my pied girl Sesika!
can't wait till it is warm enough to ship her!
Do you guys recomment not shipping when it is below 40 at night? or what are your guidelines for shipping when it is colder. Breeder of course ships with reptile approve heat packs (no hand warmers)

Re: I hate winter.....
Normally the breeder knows when its safe to ship and when its not. Normally they wont ship if overnight temps fall below freezing just from my experience

She is pretty. I totally understand how you feel. Waiting is the worst.

I personally wouldn't ship if the lows are going to be under 45. That includes where the breeder is, your location, and any major FedEx hub that the package might be sorted at. For me, every package had gone through Tennessee.
As far as tips, only use
ONE heat pack.

what makes a reptile approved heat pack different from a regular heat pack or a hand warmer?
its the same technology, the same chemicals inside, there are only 3 ways to do it that are being used.
i would be patient until its warmer :)

Re: I hate winter.....
Normal hand warmers get warm enough to leave second degree burns on human skin. Trust me, I've gotten them, working football traffic in two feet of snow doesn't stop those things from being destructive.
The duration is another thing to consider, typical hand warmers last about 8-12 hours. The 40-hour packs approved by SYR cover contingencies like the package getting lost, hopefully only for an extra day.
In either case, with temps the way they are now, best to wait til it gets above 40 overnight, especially if the parcel has to travel by plane. It gets much colder up there.

I know the feeling. With my first snake I had to wait about three weeks for him to be shipped out since Garrick has really bad winters. I would check his forecast for the week every day and would see nothing but negatives. She's a pretty girl!

I put my first payment down on this girl right before Christmas, and we are looking at not shipping until most likely end of March.......... :(
