Feeding bp related: waterbowls and handling
I just have two questions for some of you experienced ball python breeders. When you feed your ball pythons LIVE do you remove the water bowl? If the snake is under the newspaper, do you move the snake? I noticed that when I move the snakes out of the newspaper they don't eat and they use the water bowl as a hide so sometimes I have to remove it.

I don't change anything in their enclosure, just drop the prey item in.

I take out the water bowl and hide... but I feed live so I don't want the little fuzz ball to hide... once he has eatten I place his bowl and hide back in and we all go about our business.

Its only with my babies, that I remove the hide. This usually alurts them to the fact that there is prey in the enclosure and they eat right away. Otherwise, its just drop in the prey and remove any that didn't get eaten in 15-20 minutes.
On a few occations, I've had prey left in the water bowl, but I just freeze it and offer the F/T later. It's not worth taking out all the waterbowls for the rare occation that this might happen.

I use to take it out because they would always strike and then put the dang mouse and their own head in the water. I only did it because it worried me and I didn't think they would eat a wet rodent. Now I don't even care, they know when they need to breathe and they will still eat the rodent.
