Slowcountry Balls Locks

So we've been pairing up various snakes since mid November (took a 2 week break for Christmas travels), but only recently begun to try to get pictures of the locks. Some of our big projects are the Paste-Hypo-Pied project (our female Pied het Hypo has produced the last 2 seasons for us when paired with our male Pastel Hypo possible het Pied, but so far he has not proven to be het Pied, but we got a female Hypo het Pied and a female Pastel Hypo het Pied in 2012 and a male Pastel Hypo het Pied and a female Hypo het Pied last year, so next season, we should have a good chance at getting the Paste-Hypo-Pied), a Mystic project (pairing our male Mystic with a female Mystic, female Mojave, female Pastel Enchi, and 2 really dark normal girls), an Orangebelly project (our Orangebelly male is being paired with 2 Orangebelly females from Anthony Caponetto Reptiles, 2 possible Specter females, and a female Mojave), a Fire-Congo project (male Fire to a female Congo and female Pastel Congo), and some others. So here are some of the locks so far. As we get pictures of other locks, we'll be sure to update this thread.

Thanks for the comments guys. I am really looking forward to the Congo-Fire, Mystic, Hypo-Pied, Paint, and Orangebelly stuff that I've got pairing up. My Orangebelly looks really unique and I haven't yet figured out if there is anything extra going on with him. Next season I'll be able to breed him back to a couple of his daughters to see if anything shows up (a Pastel-Orangebelly, a Pastel, and 2 normal looking girls).

This last pairing produced one of my favorites from last season. You can look at the Congo Fire (http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...119-Congo-Fire)

So, we got our first clutch of the year. It came from a female we weren't even sure would go. Last year she locked up a lot, went off feed, but never laid. This year she exhibited the same behavior, so, I didn't think much of it, but when my wife went to clean her tub, lo and behold, she was wrapped around a clutch. After getting her off the eggs, we found 5 good eggs and 1 slug, pretty good for her first clutch. She is off a real dark snake that Tim Lane used to darken up a lot of his morphs, it is unknown if her darkness is a line-bred trait or if it is an actual mutation. She also has a lot of great granite characteristics that I am looking forward to seeing if they are genetic. She was bred to both a Mystic male and a Jigsaw Blast male. I am looking forward to seeing the results.

Also this week, good signs from our Mystic x Mystic pairing. First up is a picture of one of their locks (they are half-siblings, so look at how similar they are in color). The second picture shows what we saw yesterday. What do you guys think? The "glow before she goes"? I am really hoping for some super Mystics.

Congrats you have a lot of very exiting action going on over there! I'm hoping my Pastel het Clown is due for her pre-lay shed in the next week or so and I'm about to start throwing my Lemonblast het Clown to my Calico girl to get her going til my Pastel Leo boy is ready for action. But man am I envious of all these beauties! Best of luck with their health and the odds. :gj:

Thanks. It's been an exciting season and I hope to catch a few more locks. I'm hoping to hit some triple combinations and upgrade my females with some holdbacks.

Thanks. I'm probably most excited about the Pastel Enchi x Mystic and the Pied het Hypo x Pastel Hypo possible het Pied pairings. I have some really cool other pairings, but those are probably the 2 I'm waiting for the most. This is the third season of pairing the Pied het Hypo x Pastel Hypo possible het Pied, so far no visual Pieds (out of 7 eggs over the last 2 seasons), but I'm hoping this season will be the one. If not, his son, a Pastel Hypo het Pied from last season, will replace him in my quest for Pastel Hypo Pieds.

I'm a big fan of Clown projects, so I look forward to seeing how your project s turn out
