Is my normal a het Albino?

Hey everyone, this is my girl Faye. I got her in April 2012 as a baby so she's an early 2012 or late 2011. She currently weighs 931g (she's been on a two month fast).

Anyway, a local reptile store where i got her mentioned that she might be het Albino. Are there any markers that would point towards that?

Nope...

Would just have to breed her to find out if she is Het.

Get a male albino and when she is up to a good weight pair them up. Other than that no.

You can dig a little deeper by asking the store where they got it, then inquire from the breeder about the parents. Markers or no, it's not wise to beleive a petstore's or any other seller's het claims unless the breeder directly certifies the genetics.

as far as i know, het albinos have no markers at all, so there is no way to tell from the optics.

some recessive hets do sometimes have markers, het piebald and het clown are often mentioned.

but het albinos dont have markers. so its all about the information that comes with the snake.

I'm not too worried about it. After all, I bought her as a normal so I wasn't expecting much. The owner mentioned it to me after the purchase so I wanted to see if het Albinos have any markers.

I appreciate the info. What are the markers for a het Pied? I actually have one and would like to see if she has any of them?

hard to describe, in some places the white of the belly can have dark outlines, so instead of the pattern fading away into the white of the belly, you get what people call "railroad tracks". sometimes you get even more obvious markers: a partial ringer, where the white reaches up into the sides, or a full ringer. you really need to look for pictures of this, the "railroad track" thing is difficult to put in words.

I googled it and see exactly what you're talking about. I'll need to check her when I get home. Thanks for the explanation.

I'll post a photo up of her stomach just for fun so I don't have to start a seperate thread.
