Do ovulating/gravid females release pheromones/smells?
I actually made an account just to ask you beautiful people this question haha.
My females' behavior has changed ever-so-slightly in the last week or so: she uses her climbs a little less and sleeps away from the male more often, and as far as I've seen they've stopped breeding. Today I took her out to check for other health problems, and while she wasn't showing any symptoms of RI or anything, I noticed she smells a little different. Like not raw-chicken salmonella different, just different. The only time I usually smell *anything* is right after a shed; I took the male out to see if maybe there was something smelly in the enclosure they'd come in contact with, but he had no odor at all. Again, no smell is pretty normal for my snakes as long as they're not shedding.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? should I be checking for other bacteria that *don't* smell like salmonella? Their enclosure smells fresh and is clean.
Any ideas?

Dont know if I know what salmonella chicken smells like haha. But I have noticed that there feces does tend to change its smell and consistency when they are gravid. Maybe thats what your smelling?
