    I'm a ball python dentist today....ouch! LOL
Long story short, I pulled 3 teeth from 2 different ball pythons today... I removed them from their mouths with my hand. Then I removed the teeth from my hand..

I've been nipped at before, and it has never hurt before. But this time, OUCH! haha.

I was late to get going somewhere, and I had thawed a bag of XL mice. They were thawed, and lukewarm, but not quite warm enough. I've never needed to use forceps before, so I didn't worry about it. Well, it turns out that their heat sensors work pretty well, as they decided to attack my hand instead of the mouse..haha! Guess I'll get me some forceps soon.

Anyway, the one I took a pic of in my hand is the middle one in the pic with the dime. Oh, and they are both full grown females... I'm feeding them XL f/t mice because they only cost just more than $0.50 each, which includes shipping, and they average about 40grams. These 2 females are aggressively feeding right now, too.

Thats pretty wild. I try to use tongs/forceps always just for that reason. If the temperature isn't right on the prey item, then they key in on your hand as it always is a toasty 98.6 degrees. I had a very similar thing happen once. I had just finished petting my dacshunds when my daughter asked me to hold a large female. I had her in the one hand and wasn't really paying attention. My other hand must have been waiving scent and heat right in front of her because she nailed me without warning. It was so hard it bruised my hand and I too pulled three teeth out of my hand. Your just lucky they didn't have to amputate.

I think the teeth came out because as they struck, I jerked my hand back. It's really funny to me that it happened, as I've had them for a few years now. I know better. The mistake was not having them warm enough.

It makes me wonder if BP teeth grow back in, or if they're just missing a few now.

I guess I'm lucky that my hands are always cold compared to their dinner (I use a blowdryer to heat the head of the rat up..) So I've not gotten chomped on yet!

    But, that looks painful! Ow.

I've never needed to do this trick myself, but I've seen a suggestion to wash your hands, and rinse them in cold water before feeding.
