    Need urgent help
http://imgur.com/b6wank3not sure how to add pictures but need urgent help. Will try to update with pics. My female ball python has had several locks with a male over the past while. I recently fed her and then went out of town for 4 days. When i got back I checked on her and there appears to be a clear baloon coming out of her vent. She is alive but barely. It doesnt look like an egg but it also doesnt look like an anal prolapse. I am fairly experienced with breeding but never heard of this happening before!

If she's barely alive why are you not taking her to a vet?

should have clarified. Live in the Northwest Territories. Nearest vet is 3 hour drive and they only deal with common pets. Nearest herp vet is almost 12 hour drive. Im looking for opininions on what it might be. Sadly vet trip is out of the question

    My guesses:

    1) Premature egg
    2) Some kind of cyst that was ruptured during mating
    3) Some kind of tumor that was ruptured during mating

Regardless, I would definitely get her to the emergency vet ASAP! That's not something I would even wait for normal business hours for. I'd be on the phone with the emergency vet down the road even as I was driving there. Scary stuff.

If you can't get to a vet my best advice would be to take some pictures and video of the snake and then email them to one of the big breeders BEGGING for help. Maybe they have come across it before. i would also look up the nearest herp vet, find his contact info and then call him/her about the problem. See if he/she will be willing to look at your pictures and give some advice.

Also, call your own vet. He/she might not be experienced with snakes, but maybe they would be willing to take a look and then call a colleague to get their input. Anything is better than sitting and waiting, hoping she'll be ok. Call your vet and beg for help, even if he/she isn't into snakes. Maybe they can keep your girl alive long enough to find a herp vet closer, or for your regular vet to get some advice from a fellow vet who specializes in exotics. Many vets are willing to help if you ask.

Call the herp vet and explain your situation; see if you can send them pics/video and get recommendations. They may be willing to talk your dog/cat vet through a procedure if it doesn't need surgery. Before I moved to an area with a herp vet, my dog/cat vet would do similar things. At the very least, they can provide antibiotics.
