    health question urgent!
ok so my blood has mouth rot and i must give him antibiotics.
the problem is i never did this to a snake , i am a medical student. anyway i dont have vets that can to this in my country especialy in my area.
so my question is where is best to give him the shot? in what part of the body? middle? upper? tail base? base body? i presume i must do it in the muscle adjacent to the spine.
    any advice is welcomed.
    thank you

Have you gotten him diagnosed by a vet? and had the vet show you how to administer any medication?

Edit: I see you don't have a vet, that's your first problem. Administering medication without veterinary guidance is a terrible idea.

Especially if it should be injected under the skin or into the muscle?

Ok first off you've misspelled the medical name of the antibiotic you're using, which threw me off at first. It's CEFTAZIDIME, better known as Fortaz in the US. If you're going to be a doctor please learn to spell medications properly.

I'm going to assume that you're not in the US since you can purchase antibiotics over the counter. Here it's prescription only.

You're going to have to figure out the dosage based on the strength of the medication and you're snake's weight. Since you're in med school it should be a snap (I hope).

Fortaz should be injected in the front third of the snake, into the muscle along the side halfway between the spine and belly. To avoid damaging the scales slide the needle under the rear of the scale before injecting the snake.

Expect your snake to object rather strenuously to being injected. Even with my ball pythons it was a 2-person job, one to hold the snake, the other gave the shots.

You can also look up mouth swab treatments for mouth rot, I know they exist but not what they are offhand.

Yes, as previously stated, you're going to want to go between the scales and you'll want to achieve a very small angle 45 degrees or less. You can't just go right in like you could on a larger animal. You will definitely need a second person to help you. Even he most docile BP is going to thrash pretty violently to get away, and you don't want them to thrash and break the needle off or stab something important (I.e. The lung). You'll want someone to put pressure just behind the snake's head and a few inches past the point you will be injecting. They will need to hold the snake well enough that he or she can't move, but obviously you don't want to hurt the snake.
