Please be careful the rest of this week and this weekend. Tropical storm Bonnie and Hurricane Charley are going to cause come bad weather conditions this weekend. Everyone please be careful and prepare for some rain. Up my way ( in MD ) we are gonna get a good bit of rain, but tornado's are possible.

    Everyone on the East Coast
You jinx my beach trip and you are toast, son!!

Hehe - good advice though - would probably still be stuck in Miami had it not been for Hurricane Andrew.

All of the adjusters at my work are getting hardons reading the weather forecasts. I work at an insurance adjusting firm. Hurricanes mean $$$ for us. And there's 2 coming in! Should make for a nice bonus at year end...

They are evacuating Pinellas county (borders Hillsborough which is where Tampa is) and parts of Hills. Luckily we're in a zone that is not being evacuated....yet. Probably won't make the Daytona show which I am extremely bummed about as it would have been my first one. Actually, if we are evacuating we want to go east and Daytona is east, but don't want to get caught in crazy traffic so hopefully we won't have to go anywhere. Schools have been closed for tomorrow as a precaution and probably a lot of businesses. All I can say is I'd much rather deal w/a blizzard any day (and I'm a 'blizzard of '77 survivor' ). Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens....

The blizzard of 77 was a doozy...We here in Illinois also had to deal with a blizzard of that year. I was one of the dummies, I was out on a tractor during that blizzard pulling car's out of ditches for $50. a pop. Paid for it though with some frost bite.

Just remember all you Floridians in the path....It's not how the wind is blowing, it's what the wind is blowing...Keep your head's low and be safe.

yeah bonnie is actually over savannah right now. mainly just a lot of rain and a little wind but we do have a tornado warning. it's been a pretty dreary day with tonight supposedly bringing strong storms. tomorrow we are supposed to get hit with charley which they are forcasting will bring some pretty strong wind and more storms. flooding really is the biggest problem since we aren't much above sea level. it is already flooding a little in some places from the small amount of rain we have had so far just because it falls faster than it can soak in. i'll be keeping an eye on my car tonight for sure. my apt. complex is literally built on a swamp. hurray for stilts!

EDIT: so i checked and bonnie is not actually here yet. what we are getting right now is just a front that is moving along in front of bonnie. greeeeat. i can't wait for tonight. and tomorrow. and tomorrow night....

Yes, I grew up in Williamsville (suburb of Bflo.). Have pictures of me playing in the snow drifts (I could walk by the 2nd floor windows!). I was only four, but still remember it. Actually I think we were vacationing in Florida when it hit and came home to the front door being blown open and a snow drift in our foyer!...

Really hating this hurricane thing, have to attempt to pick up my fiance's brother in Pinellas, don't even know if they'll let us over the bridge....ugh!

Thankfully for us Charley hit to the south in the Sanibel/Port Charlette area. We didn't get any adverse weather at all really, just some wind and a little rain, nothing to write home about.

However, Charley still packed a mean punch and caused terrible damage. 3 people have been confirmed dead and some are missing. Let us remember those who were affected and send our prayers/good thoughts their way.
