Why doesn't he like the warm side
Hey everyone, we got my 4 year old son a male 200 gram yellow belly for Christmas. I just recently switched from a dimmer to a hydrofarm thermostat to control the uth. Using the dimmer I struggled to maintain a good temp so I erred on the side of caution and it stayed in the mid 80's. He always stayed in his warm hide like I would expect. Since getting the hydrofarm it nows stays at 92-94. He now stays in the middle cooler hide and doesn't look at the warm side during the day. FYI, I am using an infrared bulb to heat the ambient air. Warm side air is around 83 and cool side is 78ish. He is eating fine and is very active at nifgt. Should I be worried?

If you upped the temp and he doesn't like that side anymore, you can lower it back down some.

As long as there is a place for him to warm up I wouldn't be worried. Perhaps he is more comfortable in his cold side hide. I had the same issue with mine ! He stayed in the cold side all day . I then changed the hot side hide and now he only stays on the side. Clearly his comfort in his hide is a big factor

I'll try lowering the hot spot a few degrees and see if he uses it.
