Drinking a lot

I have a 2013 male who seems to drink a lot. Maybe the others are drinking just as often except only when I'm asleep, but at least 1-3 times a week I'll catch him with his head in the water bowl for a good 30 seconds or more (I doubt he's gulping that entire time though).

He also urinates a lot more frequently than the others that are around his age/size.

I have no reason to be particularly worried about anything. The urine looks healthy and normal, he's gaining weight normally, and he's my best eater without question. If it weren't for noticing how often he urinates I wouldn't think anything of it. Just looking to hear from more knowledgeable people.

He defecates about as frequently as others, and it's a healthy looking stool. Breathing is good (no whistle or wheeze, no mucus, drool, or frequent yawning, etc).

77F cool side, 90F warm side measured with a temp gun and a probe thermometer. Heat provided by flexwatt controlled by a thermostat. He's in a rubbermaid rack.

Humidity is at 54%

I catch my little one drinking at least once a day, maybe twice. Some just seem to like drinking from the bowl more than others, or maybe you just happen to be looking at the right time. Any dented eye caps or signs of general dehydration?

No dented eye caps or signs of dehydration.

Past sheds have also been perfect (I've kept most of them).

I mean it makes sense... He drinks more, he urinates more. And like you said, I'm probably just catching him at the right time to see him drinking, so I'm not completely puzzled by this or anything.

He's on paper, so I do know every time any of my snakes urinate, so I am certain that he's urinating more often.

Just wanted to make sure the more frequent urination wasn't indicating something more that might not be as obvious to spot (kidney, bladder, etc) and that shrugging it off wouldn't be neglectful.

Both for his sake and my own general knowledge.

I guess you have a thirsty snake. Unless it's possible for snakes to get diabetes lol.

Doesn't sound like anything is up with "excess" drinking - I catch my ball python drinking water every week as well. He is not as shy as my corn snake, whom I almost never see drink.

I wonder if it's possible that your BP splashes or tips the water bowl, making it look like urine more? If the liquid is not around the water bowl than it wouldn't appear to be so. Sometimes my snakes like to make a mess like that, even with their stone/ceramic water bowls :P

But like you said, you have them on paper. I bet most of our snakes go just about as much but we can't tell because of the substrate they are on.

He is your best eater... that's why. I have found that good eaters urinate a LOT, thus drinking a ton of water.

I hadn't thought about that connection with the feeding, but it makes sense. I was hoping someone would have something neat like that to point out.
