When BPs Fast For The Winter...
When do they usually start eating again?

To tell you honestly, it just depends on the snake. One of mine didn't eat for a month then started eating again. My other one didn't eat for a month and a half and now eats every other week or when she feels like it. The rest of mine eat normally.

My best advice is to try and feed them on their regular schedule each week. If you don't feel like wasting food, skip a week. Don't worry, you won't starve them.

I have never had one fast for winter. Generally you get the 1000g fast from females, and breeding season fasts from males. And, of course the random, I hate you, I want to be a pain in the butt fast.

But I have never noticed it as a winter thing. Then again I live in San Diego, and it was 80 degrees yesterday...

I'm still a bit new with bps, butblast year I had the full spectrum. Everything from some that never stopped to one that refused for 4 months. I'd say about half or more of my 32 balls are either off feed or feeding sporadically. Got a couple that started eating again after being paired for mating.

My oldest/largest male is at least five years old and hasn't eaten since October. He's a normal, not used for breeding, takes f/t, is maintaining weight, so while I offer ever week I don't worry about him. He'll start again eventually.

Thisx100. My oldest male is 7. His last meal according to my records was 10/31/13. Hasn't eaten since and has dropped less than 70 grams. I don't offer every week, as he eats frozen rats, and I don't want to thaw, feed, then throw away if he doesn't eat.

I also have a male albino, that hasn't eaten for me yet, he however is only 176 grams, and purchased on 12-16-13, he's lost less than 10 grams, and he kind of follows his live mouse around the cage, never striking but "kissing" the mouse.
