Staying in her water dish...

My BP has been staying in her water dish for the past 2 weeks, even at night when the heat lamp is off (i have an UTH on one side that stays on at night but the water dish is on the cooler side)
She doesn't have any signs of shedding that I can see & is still eating...should I be concerned.

Are you sure she doesn't come out at all? maybe while your not in the same room.

Staying in water bowl is usually one of the three things (but there could be other reasons).

1. Too hot
2. Scared, hiding, and no other good hiding places
3. Mites

Those are not the only reasons they can do this, but they are the most common.

Check the temps, make sure she has someplace to hide and feel secure, and check for mites.

Some of mine go in there once in a while when there bout to start shedding

you rely on night heat just threw a UTH? That's wrong.

i could understand decreasing the temp at night. But to give him no heat at all. Not good. They are cold blooded,you know that,right? They rely on you to keep them warm.

the only reason I can see your snake is forever in its water bowl is mites. Obviously not heat,cause you don't even keep him warm at night. I leave my bulbs running 24-7. In use a double dome. I put a day bulb in one and a black light bulb in the other outlet. I keep my tanks warm all day every day and I still use UTHS

Nope, your wrong, sorry chap, you shouldn't use heat lamps because of humidity problems, im not saying you can't if you put in the extra effort to keep it humid enough though.. He is in the wrong if it is unregulated UTH then it very well could be to hot, what are your temps on the hotspot and cool side?

lol try again, you can most certainly turn off the heat lamp at night, so long as temps in the rest of the room are at least in the 70s. I don't run my space heater at night for safety reasons and my snakes do just fine overnight. If the UTH is properly regulated, the snake is fine.

OP, what kind of hides are you providing? Have you checked for mites? The fact that the snake is staying in the water bowl even at night speaks more to other problems than heat.

Before you try to give any advice please get some knowledge ourself.

An UTH can generate the proper heat depending on a variety of things.

A BP does not need bulbs, one main reason is their nocturnal. Bulbs also lower humidity and while I do run them in my Rufous Beaked setup I personally would never leave bulbs running. If anything I'd get a ceramic heat emitter.

By your measure, heat tape (which a large portion of the industry use) is also bad to use.

But, just so you know, the snake can't perceive the black light first of all. And bulbs just suck humidity out. So, how many full sheds have you ever experienced? Did you even know that's how it's supposed happen?

Are tubs also a bad option? Why do you put your snake(s) in enclosures for fish?
