My red iguana, Bart. Maybe needs a new name if female? Pics! 1yr and 3ft.
This is Bart. Bart is a lot of personality, and pretty tolerant of me (I don't like to use the word tame). Bart can be picked up, carried around, and will head bob when saying "GO AWAY HUMAN!". I bought Bart as a baby male, but there are no guarantees, and was just sold as a male. Either way, I will still give attention, create climbing things, be cautious of what is available during the free roam (likes to see whats edible), and keep growing organics every year to feed Bart in the outdoor enclosure. Thank goodness Collard Greens grow so fast.

He has 4-5 favorite spots to stop at while he roams around. I have put branches at each, and sometimes just a platform. There used to be books there, a shelf, expensive speaker monitors, etc, but Iguanas just are climbers by nature, so I adjusted A LOT and every time I think something is iguana proof, I make another adjustment. Its worth it though ;) and I wanted one since I was a kid. I still have to watch him because he has a favorite spot that he will actually try to get around me to poop at. I keep putting him on newspaper and wait until he does business, then I let him have his free reign, so to speak.

My question is if he is male or female? Every website I go to says around the two year mark is when the big difference is noticeable, but I figure there are some experts in here who may be able to tell beforehand?

Here is Bart, in one of his favorite indoor stops (2nd fav, so added another light setup for him) during free roam:

CUTE! SO MUCH CUTE! I love iguanas! I also love, love, love the name Bart. I think it is a good name whether Bart is a male or female. I nicknamed one of my female friends Bert and so I think it is more than cute. I would love to someday have an iguana. Your iguana is beautiful!

My uneducated guess would be female. An iguana that I've been taking care of already has some male like characteristics that are missing on your's, and he is smaller.

I kept an iguana for many years and my first impression based on the pics is female.
