Anyone know how many grams a snake might weigh by looking at how long it is?? Just like a rough estimate, because I wanna really look into breeding my male with my female but I don't know if my male is ready yet. He's only around 2.5 feet which is kinda small :? I don't have a scale nor does anyone I know... Horby (my male) is about 1.5-2 old. Can anyone gimme some advice?

    grams to size??
Weight matters more than size, although a particularly young snake may not be as fertile as a more mature one. Males should be at least 800g, which is very roughly about 3 feet, whereas females should be around 1500g, which should very roughly be around 4 feet. IF I were you, I'd just buy a cheap digital scale, or if you're really short of funds, just use a regular kitchen scale.

Walmart (should change the name to HerpMart) has a decent food scale for around 6 bux, has a bowl on the top, great for weighing our snake friends (was recommended to me by members of this site). Otherwise, there's really no way to judge weight accurately just by length. I suppose you could probably venture a guess by looking at it, but providing length alone isn't enough to make a judgement.

i dont know much about weighing or breeding but i think a vet would probably be able to weigh him for you if you really wanted to get an accurate weight, but i have no clue as far as how to guess weight. :)

I know a couple of people that use the Post office quite often...... If that isnt an option a kitchen scale and conversion if you need it can be found here http://www.convert-me.com/en/
and a good place to look for affordable scales http://www.oldwillknott.com/cgi-bin/...home_page.html

Good info to have Robert .. Thanks!

A cheap digital scale is the way to go if you are looking to get your snakes weighed. Herpmart ( thanks for the word sophie42204! ) has some good ones pretty cheap as sophie42204 said. I've got one and i like it.
