Help with questions about my BP?

My ball python is about 7 months old and male. He's 2 1/2 feet long. Is that big for a male at his age? And how long could I expect him to get? Also he hasn't eaten in about 3-4 weeks. He got sick(because of me being a terrible caretaker) and has had to have tshirts in his tank instead of his hides and usual substrate. The vet told me not to worry until it gets into the 2 month range. So once his tank is back to normal will he feed again? Also what's a good weight at 30"?

Bacterial infection which caused scale rot. when I took him to the vet she said to take out all of his tank dressings and that he needed something soft so as not to hurt his belly anymore. She recommend cotton tshirts.
