    Axanthic Bee - New Camera
So I got a new camera for Christmas (thanks mom!) that I have no idea how to use yet, but I'm slowly working my through the guide books for it so I can figure out what I'm doing. My mother kindly set it up for me to work as a fancy point-n-shoot in the meantime, so here are my first attempts. Unfortunately having a decent camera really highlights the limitations of my home made "light tent" (aka a cardboard box with some fabric stapled to it, a piece of paper, and two $5 desk lamps from Target with mismatched bulbs I found in the closet ), so I think I'll be doing some shopping for a real one soon.

Here is the current set-up for now lol, Nikon D3200 with Sigma 18-250mm macro AF stabilizer lens, and the aforementioned cardboard box and desk lamps.

A few snaps of Miss Pixel (all the other babies ate, and the adults are locked/in shed/too big to fit in the box, so I figured I'd leave them alone).

I tried taking a few of the other babies eating by focusing through the side of the plastic tubs and onto them, which sort of worked. Here's Pixel's sister Nipper (bee het ax) enjoying her dinner...

And speaking of adults who are otherwise busy, here's a quick shot of my Killerbee het axanthic (Pixel's dad, Yellow Dude) locked with the Pastel Axanthic girl. This is the pairing I've wanted to do since I got my first BP, so fingers crossed it works out! (And no neither of them are that brown IRL, it's just tough to photograph axanthics accurately, and I wasn't about to start messing with them lol)

Aww thanks! I don't think I've ever seen her doing the periscope thing before, so I'm glad I was able to record it. Honestly I'm really intimidated by the camera, but I'll get there, I just have a lot of learning to do!
