    Possible rehoming
So while I'm not a boa person anymore, mainly due to me having to part ways with my Yellow Anaconda girl that I had which was a sweetheart and I miss her extremely.

Anyways, to the point. A guy I guess, could be a girl but believe it's a guy has a 6 foot boa that he's had for awhile. He's trying to rehome her for $200 for the snake and tank, and while I don't have the extra money to spend due to having to fix motorcycle I told him I'd give him $100 just to get her away from him. I think the snakes in the garage or something where it's probably cold right now because heat lamps and stuff can only do so much. So anyways the guy tells me for awhile now she's been eating every 3/4 weeks and that's if she's lucky. So I guess the snake is very hungry because he said she'll bite anything that goes into her enclosure unless you pat her head or something. So assuming that he'll do it, I'm of course going to make sure she doesn't have a RI, especially because of being in a garage or shed or something in the cold weather that we've had lately. If she's all good to go then I'm going to get her and fatten her up so she's not hungry and wanting to eat everything with a heat signature. Hopefully once I get some good meals into her she'll settle down like I've always known the BCI's to be, being I've bred them in the past and I've only been bitten once by a baby in shed.

I just wanted to kinda vent a bit I guess because I want to grab the guy by the throat and beat his face in. The poor snake is probably starving.

He actually said "and that's if she's lucky"?

So he knows that he's not feeding her enough and he's just indifferent about it?

    Sick people.

Not sure if it's a money thing or what. I'm trying to talk to him a little as possible because I have a short temper regarding ignorance.

That's so sad. I'm not in an awesome financial situation but I'm doing everything in my power for my animals.... A large rat at a local breeder MIGHT be $3.... I hope you find her healthy and can help get her fed, heated and calmed down properly. She deserves it, poor thing. /:

I would take over $100 cash and offer it just on the snake, the owner can keep the tank and accessories. The poor thing will probably need to be in a tub with decent warmth and humidity for a while anyway.

Check your local Wal-Mart for the "Christmas Tree Tubs", I think they're VE-175's? It will hold her for a while.

Actually, feeding every 3-4 weeks is not unreasonable for an adult boa. I am equally appalled with his subsequent statement, if that is, in fact, what he said. But the feeding schedule is really not that bad. Boas do not need to eat as often as ball pythons. Less is more with them. Don't stress too much about the boa's condition until you actually SEE her.....

His exact words were 1/month if she's lucky. Something about feeds her squirrels, dove.s and cardinals.

Then he made the ignorant statement that if he doesn't sell her he could always sell her skin and get meat from her. Just a lot of bull and I'm trying to deal with him as little as possible.

With statements like that, the guy's a redneck jerk. (no offense to rednecks, lol)

    Good luck with things!
