I need to know what retained eyecaps look like if Amy hasn't gotten them off herself, because she's having a bad shed. So, what does it look like when they're still on and HOW do I get them off myself? this is very important! please help me.

What is your humidity like? I would keep the humidity up pretty high and give her a good soak. Other than that, I'm not sure, I haven't dealt with retained eyecaps.

    check out this thread: http://www.ball-pythons.net/PNphpBB2...ic-t-4775.html

from the looks of that pic you'll definitely know if she retains her eye caps.

retained eye caps are pretty easy to see .... not the usually clear bright eyes you see with a normal shed. aslo a good indication they may still be on ,will be the caps missing from the shed
It isnt a big deal to get them off on a first shed they can be left and monitered until a second shed cycle just be sure and keep the humidity up
In the event there is a problem again with the eye caps on a second shed use some Glycerin and a q-tip and apply it to the eyes about 2 times a day until the caps come off freely Glycerin is a humectant, meaning it attracts moisture to your skin ,so it works very well with removeing stuck caps ,it can be found in most pharmacys
Edit: I just thought i would point out , it is not always as apparent as the pics linked above

Good info guys. Just wanted to add that after a second no eyecap shed if you are not comfortable trying to remove them yourself .. a vet trip might be in order.

    Re: Retained eyecaps *question*
I think my bp is suffering from this, however i saw the eyecups were there on her previous shed. I tried to get a good picture, let me know what you think:

Please don't pull up every single thread involving eyes. This one is from 2004!!

Please try to relax. Retained eye caps are not life threatening. Raise the humidity, let it run through a damp washcloth, and if that fails, just wait until next shed.
