    abnormal urates?
    Hi,

We are new ball python owners. We've had William for a few of months and he is about 6 months old. I find that he does not go to the bathroom very often. The has only pooped 3 times in the last 3 months and maybe peeped about 6 times. And sometimes his urate looks like there's hard yellow stuff mixed in w the white. Almost like a peice of corn. I find when we let him roam free he goes to the bathroom out of his tank more easily. His tank is a 10 gallon and William is 20 inches long. Humidity and temps are good. He has 2 hide outs, one on the cold (approx 75F) and one on the hot (approx 90F), tank temp goes from 80F during the day and 75F at night. Humidity is around 40 - 50 percent. I increase when he's going to go into shed.

    Are his urates normal?

Sometimes yellow comes through with the urates, just a richer vitamin deposit than the rest. It's nothing to worry about!

what are you feeding him and how often?

If he is only defecating once a month you are not feeding him enough, as for the urates it's normal, most animals conserve water far better than we do so it looks that way, nothing to worry about, although I would make sure he is drinking enough. Urates you should be seeing almost every week, excrement every one to 2 weeks
