Best reptile record keeping software and why?

What software do you recommend? I downloaded the free herperpro software trial. I'm not overly impressed with the layout of it, although seems to have a lot of spots for good information. I figure since I'm up to five and increasing as money and the right animal comes along, I should get to tracking them better now.

I looked at this same problem a few months ago and settled on two - iHerp or HerperPro. iHerp is great but is in online-based software and I don't like the idea of all my records being stored on a remote server. I decided on HerperPro after learning the program after a few days and realizing it is amazing for expansion. It handles not only reptiles but feeder stock, invoices, shipping, employee records... I'll be using it quite a lot once my business is registered!

I use iHerp, and I love it. The troubleshooting section can be really helpful, you can search its database for help with anything from website questions to incubation problems, and if you can't stand having your data stored elsewhere you can download your tracking records whenever you like. I haven't done this, but I believe they're stored as excel files? Aaron (iHerp's creator) is also working on a mobile app right now. The tracking has a feature that allows you to track bloodlines to reduce inbreeding in later generations, establish breeding projects to track when you put pairs together, took them apart, and any landmarks like locks, sheds, glowing, ovulation, etc. The For Sale section is nifty too, because you can look at the seller's entered data for the snake they're selling and see how it's been eating, growing, and been cared for.

I just use a binder, and everyone has their own section. I prefer paper. I like to be able to just write it down or look at it quickly, without having to get on a computer.

I am using old fashioned cards and stickers right now.

I have HerperPro, and I will check it out again when the ball python module comes online. Right now with 30 some-odd animals it is just cumbersome to go back and enter everything. I have not tried the scanning ability, and that may make a difference, so once the BP module is online, I will give it all a full test run.

I previously used iHerp, and ran in to the same issue of cumbersome enterning of data. Also, I too do not care for the requirement to be online. My iHerp profile is WAY behind, and I really just need to delete it since I do not see updating it.

I use a paper calander and Google Docs spreadsheet.
I can access Google Docs from a PC or my mobile. Its easy to input. And if I want, I can print the spreadsheets or save them to my desktop.

I also mark who ate or what a snake weighed on whatever date on the calendar. Its pretty easy since I only have a handful of snakes. And its easy to visualize their routine and whos eating/not eating on the calendar. I like having to deal with one calander than a bunch of individual index cards, which is what I used before.

I used to use iherp when I had under 10 animals. Then I switched to writing everything down and transferring into excel spreadsheets (each animal had its own file). About 3 weeks ago I went ahead and purchased Reptile Scan and so far I am liking it!

I use reptile scan. It works well for my needs but I could see it not working as well for someone with a large collection

Having only 3, I use an iPhone app called Snakekeeper. Easy, just enough for what I need. Includes feeding reminders which I can set down to the hour, reminding me to defrost well enough in advance. I like this as they don't all eat on the same day.

I'm currently using good ol excel spreadsheet. Each one of my bps gets their own page complere with eating, weight, and shed record.

A simple free mobile app would be awesome for people who srent breeding. ;)
