At what age/size are jungles finished changing colors?
I'm curious so I can know what to expect.. I have decided that a jungle carpet is going to be my second snake. I find the more yellow ones to be gorgeous. Someone on another forum told me to look for a high yellow morph, but I highly doubt I'll be able to do that since Repticon only ever seems to have 0 to 5 carpet pythons. The last Repticon had 5 exactly. Three were small and two were fully grown, very brown and had head injuries.

Look for something over a year old, even as old as two and you should be left with little surprises - ontogenetically speaking. If you want to work with a younger animal it will more or less be a shot in the dark. Get pictures of the parents and you could have a fair idea, though far from any guarantee, on how your snake will appear as an adult.

There are 100's if not thousands of expos each year. Now how close they are to you is a different story. I usually gotta travel between 3-5 hours to get to an expo.

Lots of breeders will ship product as well.

Most carpets get their full color saturation at a few years old... but you can kind of tell what direction they are going by their 2nd year(whether they will stay clean or muddy up/tip with black).... but all eventually darken to some degree in their later years.

As others have mentioned you can make a good guess by looking at their parents but even bright snakes will produce dark snakes here and there... and vice versa
