What camera do you use?
Hi all,
I have for a while now, wanted to get a nice camera. I love taking pictures, but there's only so much you can do with an iPhone. So I was curious, what camera do you guys use and what do you use it for other than taking pictures of your beautiful snakes? :D

It all depends what your budget is as to what you'll want to get. If you like taking pictures a lot then I wouldn't suggest a DSLR but rather a Point & Shoot camera. If you do like taking photos and plan to take them in general then find a nice DSLR.
I personally have the Nikon D7000 which was close to $1000 I think? I love it but lenses are expensive.

Canon T3i
Nikon D3200
They're pretty similar, spec wise, but I'm leaning toward the Nikon.

I have a Canon Rebel t3i, and I love it. I take tons of pictures! Of my daughter, family, snakes, furry animals, outdoors, hiking, the zoo, the beach, snow flakes, spider webs...

I looked at the T3i first. I've always been a Canon guy, and even have my AE1 sitting around somewhere... Talk about old school! But the Nikon just feels "right" for some reason. It might have something to do with being able to get it in red! In all fairness, the Canon is a great camera though. If I was going to do video with the same camera used for stills, I'd scoop it up. For video I have my GoPro. I also have a great Fuji point and shoot, and my phone does HD video and stills in stereoscopic 3D!

I've had both Nikons and Canons. Both are rather similar and you can't go wrong with either.
I currently have a Nikon D3100 and use it for everything: other pets, people, scenery, etc etc.
I suggest just buying the body, rather than the kit with a stock lens. And then use the money you save and buy a really nice lens.
The camera body on it's own isn't that expensive. It's the lenses that are rather costly.
