I think I need to soak my BP to help her shed..and I was wondering how..Do I just hold her in my hands under some water? Should her head be under too? that might sound like a dumb question..Or should I just like let her lay in some water, enough to cover her body and just watch her? how do you guys soak your snakes?

Tepid water (neither warm nor cold to the touch), only about as deep as she is high, either in the bathtub or an enclosed container, with something (a rock, a coaster, whatever) for her to rest her head on, is the way to set up a soak. Leave her in for 20-30 minutes, then have her slither through a damp towel as you hold it and provide some resistance to help her get her own shed off. Don't peel it for her!

Please dont hold her down you will have a squirming ball python. Marla has it right follow her instructions. You migh also consider checking the tanks statistics. Make sure your humidity is a little higher when you ball python is shedding this way you dont have to help her with the shed. If you are using a heatlamp with an undertank heater then maybe consider turning the light off because those lights for some reason kill humidity.

When i soak my guys and girls i use another rubbermaid container. I fill it up only far enough to almost cover their bodies with tepid water ( as Marla said ). Then i put a wadded up paper towel inside to give them something to keep their head out of the water with. I put the lid back on and put a heating pad under one side of the rubbermaid. Anywhere from 20-35 mins later, they come out. The only time i soak though is if my bp's have had a bad shed ( probably the first with the two new guys ) or if they have been stuck in with poo for any length of time or it looks like they have crawled through it. Its probably not necessary, but i like to have a clean bp :)
