    Still not eating....
Wasabi still isn't eating. He acts VERY interested and gets into strike pose about 3" away....just never pulls the trigger and eventually something spooks him and he backs off. He has also been very active lately, which I think he's just hungry....but I can't get him to take anything. I have no idea whats going on. He's about to shed so hopefully he gets over it in a week or so.

How are you warming the prey? Sounds like the heat signature is off to me.

The same way I always have.....with a bit of warm water.

I then dry it off a little with a paper towel, and make sure it feels a little warm to my hands. Again, this is exactly how I've been doing this for the last year.

    Something has him scared/stressed.

They don't always eat when they go into shed. When he does shed he'll probably be hungry, which is a good time to try to feed him again. Til then just let him sit there and ponder whatever pythons ponder in their hides.

After reading your other thread, it sounds to me like this is a typical male BP winter fast. Just keep offering each week. Eventually he'll eat.

Go figure, my non-breeding BP males are all fasting, and the two that have been locking like crazy with the girls for the last month are pounding their rodents.

Has it always eaten while going into shed before? Some will and some wont. I personally don't offer prey while they are in the shed process.

When are you feeding him? Mine is such an adventurous snake he's not interested in food when roaming around his tank. I noticed the best chance of mine eating was if he's waken up with a rat dangling close by. I've had 100% success feeding him that way. My guess is the instincts come up when he's just woken up and not in adventure mode :P

And it doesn't even matter if I dangle the damn rat in front of his hid or if I just let lay there. In minutes it's gone ;)

Personally, I don't offer during the shed period.

Just a suggestion, weigh your snake. keep a check on it every 3/4 weeks whilst not eating. Some Balls go for Months without eating this time of year! My Woddy, every year it is the same thing, only offer him every couple of weeks! Keep an eye on the weight. unless there is a dramatic weight loss I wouldn't worry too much.
