when's she gonna do her business?

i've had my baby bp for 2 weeks now and she has yet to go to the bathroom. no feces or urates. she has eaten 3 fuzzies since i got her, with the last one being on tuesday night. could she be constipated or impacted or something, or should i not be concerned at this point yet? at what point should i be concerned if not now?

I would suggest trying to get her to soak in luke warm water to see if that gets her going. My 2nd bp had constipation probs when he was a tiny baby, and seemed to grow out of it.

2 weeks is nothing to worry about... Mine usually defecates every 2-3 weeks, which is pretty average I think. Once a month is not uncommon. I'd maybe wait until 6 weeks or so to really worry.

If she eats 6 full-sized meals without defacating, then I'd start soaking and being concerned. That probably translates to more like 9 or 10 fuzzies. She should drop urates before then, but not going for 2 weeks is nothing to worry about.

ok thanks. i was under the impression that they would go several days after each meal. thanks for clearing that up for me. this makes it a little more difficult to schedule a vet check up around getting a fecal sample now doesnt it? :roll:

my bp has eaten 3 rats since her last poo, and I don't expect her to go again for a while- that last poo was bigger than what my cat leaves in the litter box.

ha, well my little girl isn't quite big enough to do anything like that yet. i was at the petstore one time though right after their burmese python had gone, and it was about as big as what my mom's horses leave in the field. now that impressed me.

haha you know your snake is a bada$$ when it's poo competes with that of farm animals. Elephants are still king though....

so nellie finally did do her business...ON ME. :shock: and i must admit that i was not prepared for the amount of pee/liquid that is involved in a snake doing their thing. i've always kept lizards and that's not too big of a deal, but this called for an emergency load of laundry. but now at least i know what that funny little tail wiggle means....:roll: but my question here--i was wanting to get a fecal sample to take to the vet for a checkup. but there really wasn't enough of an actual solid piece of poop to even save. there was lots of pee, the white glob of urates and then this tiny little bit of kind of mushy brown poop. is that a sign of some kind of internal issue like maybe parasites?

probably just a sign you might need to bump up the meal size just a little snakes are very efficient in the usage of their food and I find the smaller the food item the less frequent the bowel movements " like they are holding it longer to completely digest" when moved to a larger food item on the same frequency they begin to have more regular and substantial BM "nothing I have said is based on scientific fact just observation over the years "
