Taking my BP to the Vet ??

I'm going to be bringing my BP to the Vet soon just for a check up ( the first ) wondering what to put him in for the drive there, to keep him warm and somewhat less stressfull on him. Any advice would be Great, thanks.

A pillow case inside a spare smaller rubbermaid always works nicely for me. It makes it darker, i just dont use the a/c in the car, and make sure that its not in direct sunlight. How far is the vet away from you?

I actually have a question too, I'll be driving for about four hours back from the Daytona show. How exactly will I transport the snake from there? Got any tips o' mighty one (Led)?

It's probably only a half hour drive, then of course the wait at the doc's then the drive back. Pillow cases won't upset him ??

As long as the car isnt too warm, too cold, and they arent in direct sunlight you should be ok. When i bought Sphinx and Sway from the All Maryland Reptile Show about 3 weeks ago, i brought them home in pillowcases. At the show they came in big plastic containers, but as soon as i was in the parking lot i got them out of there and into the pillow cases i'd brought. I use dark colored ones to help filter as much light out as possible. I then had an approx 4 hour drive back home. I just put them together ( in seperate pillow cases ) into a small spare rubbermaid about the size of 3 shoe boxes and then on the front passenger side floor. Andariel ( Chris ) went with me so he was able to secure the rubbermaid from moving around too much otherwise i would have found a way to keep it from moving. In that spot of the car, there isnt too much direct sunlight or air flow from having the windows down. In my opinion, as long as they are secure from moving around too much, in a darker environment, and kept relatively warm ( the summer season helps .. just gotta watch out that its not too warm ), they are fine to travel. After you would get them home in either case ( vet or show ) its advisable that you dont handle them for at least 3 or 4 days to let them de-stress.

we took roo and roswell to the vet in a small 5 $ plastic mouse thing. just make sure it is dark enough, and like everyone else said, no direct sunlight. i would also not blast the stereo very loud. may upset them more if they are already upset. but i could be wrong on that. i wouldnt think it would make them happy. i would think 3 hours is a bit of a trip, but not too much to mess with them that bad. i think the local petco made the snakes more stressed just by being there then a car drive would.

I'll pick up some dark pillow cases first thing this saturday.

i think my snake likes being in a pillow case. also for warmth, if it's cold out, i use cornbags with my herps. basically i buy popcorn kernels, sew them up in a cloth bag, and it's like a microwavable heating pad. you microwave it for a couple minutes and it stays warm for a long time. but it can get really hot, so i let it cool off and take the temp of it before putting my herps near it. anyway, just a useful tip
