cooling down to digest???

i just recently fed my bp (f/t) and this time he went into his cool hide to digest. i was worried he only did that because he likes the hide better and was neglecting his warmth and wouldn't digest properly so i pushed it over to the warm side, switching the hides. then he left it and went to the cool side again. i guess i should trust he knows what he needs, but does anyone else's bp do this, because it was my understanding they needed to get real warm in order to digest. and no the warm side isn't too hot or anything.

(oh also, background info, he is about 4yrs old, eats well/regularly, just successfully switched to f/t two feedings ago)

He might just like cool side better, I'm sure he'll have a successful digestion.

roswell tends to chill on the cool side alot. even after he ate he went back to the cool side. i would say as long as your temps are good on both sides, then he should know whats up. i would say don't worry, but as a newer bp owner myself i tend to worry alot about temps.. i call every 2 hours or so to check em.

I wouldn't worry about it. Thermoregulation is automatic and the ball python will go the the appropriate hide when they want. Also make sure there is no poop in there because Jojo refuses to go in a dirty hide. LOL

I wouldnt worry about it either. Only one of my bp's goes into his warm hide after his meal, and mine also are wont go in a dirty hide ;)

my guy is chillin on the cool side right now . He ate on tuesday and spent all wed and most of today on the warm side.
