Pop aggresive corn snake!!!

Hello everyone, my new corn (not good with morphs but I think its a hypomelanistic or an okatee) is a very fast and feisty little snake, its only about 1-2 years old (or even less!!) so is still very small and it bites barely make a mark but whenever I try to pop it, it goes CRAZY flipping out of my hand, turning around… I know how to tame it and ive tried it but it just totally flips when i try to pop him. Pictures rats will be coming

If you just got it give it time to settle down, a week or two, then give it a try.

How much are you popping him...Your post makes it sound like your are constantly trying...

Just have someone hold it by the back of the head and the midbody while you work your magic at the back end...Should be really simple...

What do you mean by "try to tame it"? Like get it used to handling? Because it doesn't sound like it... :P
I would caution you to not pop it if it is a juvie. You may be causing it pain, which is why it is 'freaking out'. Adults and sub-adults should be probed. I strongly suggest you go to an experienced corn breeder or handler, or vet, if you'd like to know the sex.

I have only tried twice, but they tried to do it when I was there at the pet shop and it freaked, by tame it I mean calm it down, put in in my closed hands for a few seconds until he is not stricking anymore.

If the snake is over 20 to 25 grams, you shouldn't even be bothering to pop. Most corns are popped before the 15 gram mark because after that it can be difficult, damaging, and harder to do it accurately. More false "females" as the snakes get larger.

You can't pop corn snakes over a few months old. You are probably hurting it.

I suggest getting someone to probe it if you really want to know the sex.


The best way to tame it: let it be for 1 week, feed it, wait 2 days, then hold it for 5-10 mins and gradually increase handling time each time you take it out.

If I tried to pop Riddle right now(yearling) he would probably try to bite me too, and he doesn't have an ounce of mean in his body.
