Cheap Morph

Hi, I have a female normal bp and some lizards but i am now planning on going more into snakes, I would like to one day have a good breeding partner for her so are there any suggestions? I am VERY low on money so are there any very cheap morphs that are good for breeding and would produce good babys???
P.S. Before anyone suggests I have been playing around on WOBP Morph list and genetic calculator

Pastel, Pinstripe+++ there are loads, what do you define as cheap??? They would have to be single genes

you will lose more money than you will make, assuming that you invest in decent equipment, decent enclosures for hatchlings, and a decent incubator.

that being said, maybe something like a spinner or a jigsaw. but then, even that would not help much.

i have a feeling you hope for the hatchlings to make more money than you invested. for now, forget that. with a very limited budget male and a normal female, its not going to happen. you will need an incubator and need to acommodate all hatchlings. when you go for decent equipment, but dont have the money for a decent male, and only have one female, it will not work. you might recoup some of the costs, but you want to get in the black.

I'm not a breeder. That said I would go for a single gened male and work your way up. If you get a dominant or codominant male then you can keep a female baby that shares the gene and breed back to dad for a super, plus the gene from dad. Just be prepared to keep ALL the babies. Mine were accidentally bred this year and IF I get babies then I plan to keep a female yb like the dad would be. Then when she got to the appropriate age and weight breed her back and see what I get. Equipment is going to be your main expense right now. Start getting that together then think about the breeding aspect of it. You can start by getting 1 or 2 things at a time and go from there. Say you get a good thermostat then get the flexwatt, then get the rack, and then an incubator. After you get all that you pick up a single gene male and get both your snakes to the size you want and just try. There are no guarantees in the world of breeding anything. Good luck on what ever you decide. Also take the time to research and save up your money.

I do not plan on breeding now, or any time soon, my bp is still young (less than 400g) I just would like a nice morph that i could maybe in the distant future breed if i have the resources than but for now I would just keep it as a good pet

I got a male yellow belly. I was in the same boat as you. My girl is a normal and has only been a pet. My male was only going to be a pet except I didn't count on me catching a bug and my husband putting him in with her lol. I still would rather no babies this year and saving my money to get the equipment I need before really trying to breed them. I was planning to MAYBE try to breed in a few years but need to start getting the stuff now as a just in case. Good luck. Also YB goes into a lot of the higher end morphs.

It really depends on what you like. With a normal female, she's not contributing anything to the mix. A nice two gene male, a cinnamon lesser or BEL (Mojave x lesser) would give you a good mix in babies when you reached that point.

You have PLENTY of time then. Honestly with a normal girl and in your best financial interests you need to start saving your pennies now. In a year or two you could have enough saved up to get a nice two gene/super male. Then you can get some weight on him while he is in QT and try to pair them up shortly after.
This way your girl should not throw any normal and your return would be slightly better.

That brings up a good point. Besides not bringing a morph gene to the table the female will exhibit her own polygenic factors which may enhance a morph gene. Of course parts of her appearance could just be random or incubation related and not genetic at all.
Take an honest look at that female and decide what genes you like that she might possibly add a little pop to or help produce higher quality specimens. Is she dark or light, clean or dirty, does she have a busy or reduced pattern etc.

It might not do what you want but, there is the chance it could aid creating more visually appealing examples of the morph you choose.
