When can my female breed again?
I had bought a female ball python who laid eggs back in august. My question is: When (what month) should I start pairing her with my male for next year's clutch? She has a history of laying eggs in august so its slightly early for most females. This will be my first time breeding ball pythons (not new to ball pythons just the breeding. I have bred various other reptiles so I know what I'm getting into).

    Thanks,

I would wait until February/ish amd start pairing around then. Just make sure she has put weight back on and is healthy enough to breed.

Thank you for the reply, happy someone knows! So it takes about 5-6 months of paring my male and female until she is gravid?

It really depends on the individual. If your snake seems to only lay in August then that is jusy when she goes. She may be retaining sperm and just fertilize her eggs when she is ready. In the mean time, feed her regularly and get some weighton her and make sure she is healthy and ready to go.

January thru April. Laying in August has her ovulating around April or so, so pairing should happen for about 3-ish months before. She should be eating a lot right now, and over the next couple months.
    Good luck!

I have a female that laid her first clutch August 5th of this year. I'll be pairing her in January since she's already up to her pre-lay weight. I usually pair until they ovulate. She ovulated in the end of June (not in April as someone suggested)

Lol, April ovy is if they hatched in August...duh. My bad. BH Reptiles is right. With a June ovy, I'd start pairing in Feb/March.

We like to do about 4 months before when they OVYd the year before. As long as they are healthy and past the pre lay weight from the season prior...
