    Ball Python Defecating/farting!
I was watching a film earlier, when my snake decided to drop one.

i turned round to the tank to see the snake opening it's mouth and keep lunging forward and back whilst still farting/defecating.

it looked like it was in a way constipated.

    like it was really struggling.
Any ideas what it could be?
Just seemed like it was really weird, having also googled the situation nothing actually came up..

Does your BP have a wobble? Are you sure it was not a yawn? It doesn't sound like anything necessarily terrible but I'd pull him out and just give him a cursory look over.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

it doesn't have a wobble no,
    all temps are correct
    - thermostat
    - temp gauge gun is used twice a day reading 90 at the hotspot 83 in the warm side
    76 in the colder side
    - humidity is at 50 when not shedding, 55-65 when in shed

I don't understand why it would yawn though, it ate almost 4 days ago.
    unless it's just bored

Huh...sometimes stuff just happens. Of course if you have any doubts it never hurts to give your vet a call.

    Perfectly normal. :)

A few times a year people see this behaviour without noticing what is happening at the back end and panic.

Yup, I've experienced something similar with my own snakes at home. Hearing the short tailed pythons here at work fart is an experience too, let me tell ya. And for the size poops they're putting out, can you blame them for looking a little uncomfortable?!

I have a few that are very loud when going #2. Had me worried at first, but now just seems normal. My pastel will open her mouth and suck air in and then expel it out the back end. It's a sight to see....and hear!

Lmfao that mental image is hilarious. Like his mouth open because he's pushing so hard like ,"AHHHH COMMON POOPS.do snakes get constipated our just impacted? I know someone has the right answer... (no speculators please) and please no responses where someone is just rambling in trying to rationalize through process of elimination trying to convince them selves they know because of"common sense"

That sounded mean... But it stays muah ha

This thread is making me thing my snake is more like a bird... He's pooped on me before and it was an unpleasant experience. He didn't do anything crazy while doing the deed. He was merely perched on my hand when he started, and I freaked out and he got dumped in the bathroom sink to finish up. :/
