A little help with an uninterested male
I have a male mojo on loan, and i just started pairing him last week with our female mojo. Ive left him in with her for four days, and NOTHING. Hes not even tried to court her. So, i put Krimpet in there the following day(ivory male whos already been breeding) for about 30 minutes. Left the mojos together for another two days. Still nothing. Ugh. Its been snowing here, and ive been pairing other animals that are lockin up no problem. I dont get it. Hes a flippin bum. I need some help here. A little background info before its asked: yes, they are both male n female (we TRIPLE checked lol) female is a 2010, at about 1400g+, male just weighed in at 1057g. The female has been steadily taking meals for the last two months after her 5 month fast. Male has been eating like a pig the last month and a half. Theyve both been cooled down a bit, ambient temps about 79-80°. Ive cut food off for the male, hed gained 300g in a month and a half. I separated them last night, and put a slightly bigger male in the male mojos tub with him this am. Im gonna leave the two males together for a bit, the remove the extra male and put the female back in with the mojo. Other than that, idk what else to do to get this bumhead to breed.

Are any other males willing to hand over a plug or a shed?

I'm in the same boat...except I've been pairing a male since October and STILL no lock. Yes...I'm very flustered with him!

Also...thunderstorms/cold fronts/low pressure systems are your friend. Give them a week of rest and then pair during the next storm.

If you were closer I'd loan you mine. I've put him in with my lesser 3 times so far this season, and he had her good and locked within hours.

Maybe it's not him. Maybe its her giving a vibe of if you touch me you will go through the wall kind of thing. He just doesn't want to go through a wall so hes not touching her. Its a thought at least. I'm not a breeder. Well except by accident thanks to my husband.

Could they be locking and you're just not seeing it?

I suck at popping but I have heard of this trick.
Pop him before and after you pair for sperm plugs.

If nothing is going on, I'm guessing he just isn't ready. I would give him a couple of weeks off and start over during the next low pressure system.

    Good luck!!

    I'll add this too.
My Cinnamon is young and wasn't doing anything. I placed another male that went last year in the tub with him and the female. Let the older male crawl around the female for 15mins or so then took him out.

The Cinnamon got his first lock that same week.

As said above. Good luck :)
