Inheriting a pastel with possible RTI
Hey guys, I'm inheriting a full grown male pastel with a possible RTI, Going to keep him in iso and try and get a vet apt before the end of the week, any suggestions on specific husbandry things i need to either up or keep down? EG do i need less humidity, higher basking temps or anything? I've never had one of my snakes get an RTI before.
Re: Inheriting a pastel with possible RTI
Whenever I had an RI come in, I elevated both humidity and ambient air temperature. My thinking is that the higher temps obviously stimulate the immune system, the humidity helps in holding heat, and also helps with hydration. Many people have had success with just elevated temps; however, real results will come when the vet prescribes antibiotics if necessary...good luck it's a common problem and easy to treat if caught early.
